Team:

Mike Silagadze

Co-founder, CEO

Mike has worked in engineering roles at Siemens, GM, and Kimberly-Clark. He was also an early employee, and R&D lead at Miovision Technologies.

Mike started Top Hat Monocle in his living room and grew it into the giant empire it is today.

Mohsen Shahini

Co-founder, COO

Mohsen has a solid academic background in science and engineering and has spent most of his time in academia.

Mohsen co-founded Top Hat Monocle to facilitate learning via effective use of information technology. He is a recipient of the best teaching assistant award from University of Waterloo.

Patrick Batty

Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing

Pat is a software industry pioneer having held executive positions within the sector over the last 25 years. He has led business development with highly successful startups, such as SYNON, with growth up to $80 MM annual revenue in 6 years, and the academic software provider, Desire2Learn, which attained Deloitte Fast 50 recognition for multiple years.

Pat is a closet musician and swears he was offered a position with Crosby, Stills and Nash. Unfortunately Neil Young scooped him on it. The rest was music history.

Matt Ho

Co-founder, Marketing Manager

After putting his Computer Engineering education from the University of Waterloo to good use as the primary developer of monocleCAT, Matt is now very happy to be doing what he is passionate about: marketing. And what better product to market than one he helped to build?

Matt started off life at Top Hat Monocle without a top hat but came pre-equipped with dual monocles in what are normally called 'glasses'.

Jean-Marc Skopek

VP of Technology

Jean-Marc Skopek is passionate about making education more accessible to students around the world. His undergraduate work on in-class communication systems served as a perfect backdrop to his current role at Top Hat Monocle. He is an expert at Nerf combat.

Ethan Greavette

Senior content developer

Ethan is the resident game designer at Top Hat Monocle. His experience with developing interactive games serves him well in the design of interactive content for monocleCAT.

Anson Mackeracher

Senior mobile developer

Anson is working on cross-platform browser utilities, related to the monocleCAT platform. He likes to work close to the metal, favoring low-level languages over fancy dynamic ones. He aspires to be the reigning "Call of Duty" office champion.

Nick Terwoord

Senior mobile developer

With a solid background in the fundamentals, and a passion for education and student engagement, Nick earned his Bachelors degree in Computer Science (with Honours) from the University of Waterloo. Now, having joined Top Hat Monocle, Nick hopes to bring a little 'class' to the web.
